Head of Product & Brand design
Emily is the Head of Product & Brand Design at Merit America. Her primary goal is to understand and empathize with the needs and motivations of individuals interacting with the online platform. Directing the product trajectory involves delicately balancing all stakeholder learning, career, and business objectives.
Previously, she led product and brand design initiatives for myriad non-profit organizations, start-ups, and Fortune 500 companies nationwide. Also an accomplished illustrator, she received a B.A. in Studio Art and Graphic Design, and a minor in Art History, at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
My Best Learning Experience
Some of my best learning experiences have, ironically, occurred outside a traditional classroom setting. Whether I jump head first into solving a problem or I begin with ample support, I generally thrive when real-world application is involved. A great example of this is when I first learned how to write HTML and CSS. I took online courses to understand the fundamentals, but it wasn’t until I began building actual websites that the real learning and remembering began. Committing to trying and learning from mistakes is crucial to effective personal and career growth.
